Die schöne Müllerin D 795
Martin Mitterutzner comes from Hall in Tyrol and received his training from Brigitte Fassbaender. Early in his career he had engagements at the Tyrol Landestheater and then from 2011 to 2019 he was a member of the ensemble of Frankfurt Opera.
Martin Mitterutzner and pianist Gerold Huber will present Franz Schubert’s song cycle Die schöne Müllerin based on the anthology of the same name by Wilhelm Müller. Schubert himself spoke about his “few miller songs” but with his musical setting he created the first narrative song cycle of the Romantic period. Martin Mitterutzner is highly acclaimed in the media for his bright, clear, focused timbre, and he masters the timeless work – a test for every singer – with ease. He gives regular guest performances at renowned opera houses such as the Bavarian State Opera, Zurich Opera House and the Semperoper in Dresden, as well at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence and the Salzburg Festival. Together with his long-standing artistic companion
Gerold Huber he has also enthralled international audiences, for instance in the Wigmore Hall in London. Gerold Huber had a scholarship to study piano with Friedemann Berger at the Munich Academy of Music and Drama as well as lied accompaniment
with Helmut Deutsch, and he attended Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau’s lied class in Berlin.
