“Zack bumm!,” a musical theater production for children based on a book by Heinz Janisch and Helga Bansch, tells the story of Sigmund, a little bird who, after falling out of his nest, can only utter a hoarse “Zack bumm.” Feeling lost because he’s different, he discovers his own strengths with the help of Carl Gustav, the old hare. Through a combination of puppetry and music composed specifically for the play, the narrative power of music takes center stage. The nonverbal production creates a poetic visual language, allowing the young audience to immerse themselves deeply in the story on an emotional level.

Elisabeth Naske Music

Elisabeth Naske is one of the most prominent and most frequently performed composers in the field of contemporary music theater for children. With her first work, the musical adaptation of Mira Lobe’s The Little "I Am Me", she achieved resounding success in 2001, which was followed by eight commissions for operas and a large number of musical theater productions. She knows how to place themes at the center of her works that appeal to and move young people. Her music is imaginative and brilliantly orchestrated. She succeeds in sketching out characters in a striking and captivating way using only a few musical elements. In doing so, she moves between a wide variety of styles, from Baroque to contemporary music, and in the process develops her own distinctive musical language.

Katharina Halus Puppet Show

Katharina Halus was born in Salzburg. She studied acting at the Otto Falckenberg School in Munich before joining u\hof:, the children’s and youth theater division of the Landestheater Linz, and the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe. She then went on to study contemporary puppetry at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin. She combines puppetry with acting and musical theater and is increasingly taking on a role in developing concepts. In this capacity, she has made guest appearances at venues including the Salzburg Festival, the Theater Koblenz, the Salzburger Landestheater, and the Theater an der Effingerstraße in Bern. In Vienna, she has worked at venues such as the Burgtheater, the Musikverein, the Theater der Jugend, and the Volksoper.

Tanja Beranek Oboe

Tanja Beranek was born in Lower Austria. In 2023, she earned a master’s degree in oboe performance pedagogy from the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and supplemented her training with various master classes. She is a prize winner in several competitions. She has been teaching oboe and piano at the Staatz Music School since 2015. She has performed with numerous Viennese orchestras as well as in various chamber music ensembles. In addition, she is active as a soloist, performing with the Festival Sinfonietta Linz, the Tyrolean State Youth Orchestra, and the Ensemble Classico, among others.

Felicia Bulenda Clarinet

Clarinetist Felicia Bulenda studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich and at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, where she completed her concert performance degree in 2023. Since 2024, she has been studying chamber music there with Gottfried Pokorny. Even while she was a student, she served as a substitute in various orchestras, including the Vienna Volksoper and the Vienna State Opera, the Tonkünstler Orchestra of Lower Austria, and the Bühne Baden. In addition to orchestral work, her great passions are chamber music and music education. Together with cellist Maike Clemens, she forms the Duo Rabonde, which has been collaborating regularly with the Vienna Konzerthaus since 2023.

Christian Walcher Bassoon

Christian Walcher is from Graz. He studied bassoon at the Music and Arts Private University of the City of Vienna under Marcelo Padilla and completed training in instrumental and vocal pedagogy at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. He is currently studying chamber music with Richard Galler and Gottfried Pokorny. He has performed with the ORF Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra of the United Stages of Vienna, the Vienna State Opera, and the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, among others.

Sebastian Pauzenberger Marimba

Sebastian Pauzenberger is from Upper Austria and discovered percussion at the age of nine. After completing his preparatory studies with Gerhard Windbacher at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, he studied with Dieter Seiler (Vienna Symphony Orchestra) and Anton Mittermayr (Vienna Philharmonic). As a percussionist, he has already performed with the Bruckner Orchestra Linz and as principal timpanist at the Vienna Volksoper. He regularly appears as a substitute at the Vienna State Opera, the Vienna Volksoper, with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, and the Bruckner Orchestra Linz. He is particularly passionate about early music, among other things as a member of Concentus Musicus Wien. As a jazz vibraphonist, he performs regularly with the Vibravenös Jazz Orchestra.
