On Epiphany, the Tyrolean Festival traditionally hosts a festive matinee. In January 2026, a work of global power will take center stage: Beethoven's 9th Symphony - with its universal message of humanity and brotherhood, we would like to give our guests courage and confidence with this musical legacy in times of great challenges in society and private life. The concert will open with a rarely heard rarity: the violin concerto by Ferruccio Busoni. In Francesca Dego, we have been able to secure one of the most renowned interpreters of this fascinating work. A special concert morning that welcomes the New Year with sound, power and optimism.

Daniele Rustioni Conductor

Daniele Rustioni was born in Milan in 1983 and studied organ, composition, piano and conducting there. He then continued his studies in Siena and at the Royal Academy of Music in London. He assisted Antonio Pappano at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, where he sang in 2011 with Aida made his debut. this was followed by his debut at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan in 2012 and at the Metropolitan Opera in New York in 2017, where he has been Principal Guest Conductor since September of this year. From 2017 to 2025, he was Chief Conductor and Music Director at the Opéra National de Lyon. He was Principal Guest Conductor at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich from 2021 to 2023. Other engagements have taken the sought-after conductor to the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin, the Opéra national de Paris, the Dutch National Opera in Amsterdam, the Teatro Real in Madrid, the Zurich Opera House, the festivals in Aix-en-Provence and Salzburg and the BBC Proms in London, among others.

Francesca Dego Violin

Die italienisch-amerikanische Geigerin Francesca Dego ist eine der gefragtesten Instrumentalistinnen. 1989 in Lecco geboren, erhielt sie ihre Ausbildung in den USA und in Italien. 2008 errichte sie als jüngste Teilnehmerin und erste Italienerin seit 1961 die Finalrunde beim renommierten Premio Paganini. Seither verfolgt sie eine internationale Karriere und ist mit zahlreichen renommierten Orchestern aufgetreten, u. a. dem NHK Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Luxemburg Philharmonic und West Australian Symphony. Sie arbeitete mit namhaften Dirgenten wie Fabio Luisi, Philippe Herreweghe, Markus Poschner, Asher Fisch u. a. zusammen. Zu ihren Kammermusikpartner:innen gehören Francesco Piemontesi, Jan Lisiecki, Shlomo Mintz, Federico Colli, Mischa Maisky und Francesca Leonardi.

Meredith Wohlgemuth Soprano

Die amerikanische Sopranistin Meredith Wohlgemuth studierte an der Juilliard School in New York City. Im Jahr 2022 gab sie als Teilnehmerin von Renée Flemings SongStudio ihr Debüt in der Carnegie Hall in New York. Sie errang mehrere Auszeichnungen bei renommierten Wettbewerben. So gewann sie etwa 2023 die Metropolitan Opera Eric and Dominique Laffont Competition sowie den ersten Preis beim Internationalen Schubert-Wettbewerb Dortmund. Von 2023 bis 2025 war sie Ensemblemitglied der Staatsoper Hannover, so sie u. a. Partien wie Giulietta (I Capuleti e i Montecchi), Adina (L’elisir d’amore), Sophie (Der Rosenkavalier), Titania (Brittens A Midsummer Night’s Dream), Gretel (Hänsel und Gretel), Euridice (Glucks Orfeo), Cordelia (Reimanns Lear) und Blumenmädchen (Parsifal) verkörperte. Als Lied- bzw. Konzertsängerin war sie u. a. mit Bruckners Te Deum mit der Deutschen Radio Philharmonie sowie mit einem Liederabend im Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona zu hören.

Manuela Leonhartsberger Old

Die Mezzosopranistin Manuela Leonhartsberger stammt aus Linz und erhielt ihre musikalische Ausbildung an der Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien sowie an der damaligen Konservatorium Wien Privatuniversität. Nach einem ersten Engagement bei der Neuen Oper Wien debütierte sie 2011 als Mercedes (Carmen) an der Volksoper Wien, deren Ensemble sie in Folge bis 2022 angehörte. Mit der Spielzeit 2022/2023 wechselte sie an das Landestheater Linz, wo sie ihr Opernrepertoire um Partien von Korngold, Wagner, Strauss, Puccini, Mascagni, Verdi u. a. erweiterte. Gastengagements führten sie auf Bühnen und zu Festivals in Europa und Japan. Neben ihrer Musiktheatertätigkeit erarbeitete sie sich ein breites Konzert- und Liedrepertoire, mit dem sie u. a. im Wiener Musikverein und Konzerthaus, im ORF Radiokulturhaus, beim Schleswig Holstein Musikfestival, beim Herbstgold Festival in Eisenstadt, beim Liszt Festival Raiding und in der Laeiszhalle in Hamburg zu hören war.

Matteo Ivan Rašić Tenor

Matteo Ivan Rašić wurde im Alter von sechs Jahren Mitglied der Wiltener Sängerknaben. Als Knabensopran trat er solistisch in zahlreichen Konzerten und im Tiroler Landestheater Innsbruck auf. Von 2018 bis 2023 studierte er Gesang am Tiroler Landeskonservatorium und ab 2019 Instrumental- und Gesangspädagogik an der Universität Mozarteum Salzburg. 2022 gewann der Tenor den Opera for Peace Prize beim Internationalen Stanisław-Moniuszko-Gesangswettbewerb am Teatr Wielki in Warschau und den Tiroler Klassik Sängerpreis. 2023 nahm er am Young Singers Project der Salzburger Festspiele teil und stand dort als Andonis (Martinůs The Greek Passion) auf der Bühne. Seit der Saison 2023/24 ist er Ensemblemitglied am Gärtnerplatztheater in München, wo er u. a. Tamino (Die Zauberflöte), Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore) und Fritz (Die Großherzogin von Gerolstein) interpretiert hat. Auf der Konzertbühne war er u. a. in Oratorien wie Bachs Weihnachtsoratorium und Matthäus-Passion zu hören.

Lukas Enoch Lemcke Bass

Der Bass Lukas Enoch Lemcke stammt aus Regensburg und erhielt seine Ausbildung u. a. bei den Regensburger Domspatzen sowie bei Brent Lee Damkier. 2022 schloss er sein Gesangsstudium an der Musik und Kunst Privatuniversität der Stadt Wien ab und begann ein Masterstudium an der Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien. In der Saison 2021/22 debütierte er an der Wiener Staatsoper, wo er u. a. in Monteverdis Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria zu erleben war. 2023 gab er als Sarastro (Die Zauberflöte) sein Hausdebüt am Badischen Staatstheater Karlsruhe. Seit der Spielzeit 2023/24 ist er Ensemblemitglied des Staatstheaters am Gärtnerplatz in München, wo er Partien wie Sarastro, Alidoro (La Cenerentola) und Leporello (Don Giovanni) interpretierte. Auf dem Konzertpodium war er u. a. in Pietro Mascagnis Messa di Gloria und Schuberts Messe B-Dur zu hören sowie bei den Tiroler Festspielen Erl in Bachs Weihnachtsoratorium und Matthäus-Passion.

Tiroler Festspiele Erl Orchestra

The music springs from the enthusiasm of a motivated and exceptionally well-prepared ensemble that has grown together over the years. The Tyrolean Festival Erl Orchestra was first formed in the summer of 1999—and today, musicians from 20 nations play together. Already in its first year, the ensemble achieved unprecedented success, which would go on to bring international recognition to the Tyrolean Festival Erl. Top young talents, musicians from major international orchestras, chamber music specialists, and lecturers come together annually in summer and winter—and since 2017, also in fall and spring—as part of the Tyrolean Festival Erl. Under the direction of festival founder Gustav Kuhn, the orchestra garnered rave reviews from international critics and cemented its reputation as one of the world’s finest Wagner orchestras. With the start of Jonas Kaufmann’s tenure as artistic director in September 2024, Asher Fisch—a conductor in high demand internationally in both opera and concert settings—has taken over the helm of the orchestra.

In addition to Richard Wagner’s ten major music dramas and operas by Strauss, Mozart, Beethoven, Verdi, and Rossini, the orchestra’s repertoire includes Beethoven’s symphonies and many other key works from the concert repertoire spanning the Baroque and Romantic periods, as well as contemporary works and world premieres.

Tiroler Festspiele Erl Choir

Founded in 2007, the choir serves as an equal musical partner to the festival orchestra. The focus is on meticulous attention to individual parts. As part of the festival, the singers work on a wide range of projects, from a cappella programs to concert and opera productions. Since the opening of the Festspielhaus Erl in 2012, the repertoire has placed additional emphasis on bel canto works and Verdi’s operas.

The development of a Baroque choral sound in the works of Bach and his contemporaries is also a key focus of the ensemble’s work; since 2009, it has maintained close ties with Capella Minsk, the State Academic Choir of the Republic of Belarus. Founded in 1940, this choral ensemble has made it its mission to preserve Belarusian folk music and to premiere works by modern and contemporary composers.

The choir is distinguished by its precise intonation, harmony, versatility, and dynamic sound—qualities that have formed the basis for numerous tours throughout Europe in recent years. Its repertoire includes requiems, masses, cantatas, and sacred works, as well as operas. After Lyudmila Yefimova spent many years developing and shaping the choir’s quality, Olga Yanum took over as the ensemble’s director following her death in 2018.

Bachchor Salzburg

The Salzburg Bach Choir, founded in 1983, is one of the leading vocal ensembles. Thanks to its variable instrumentation and stylistic flexibility, it can devote itself to a diverse repertoire. In addition to Mozart, the choir's own concert series Chorage® is a focal point of its artistic work. The a cappella repertoire spans over five centuries. The choir is a regular guest at the Salzburg Festival and the Salzburg Easter Festival, and is also an artistic partner of the Mozart Week. Engagements have taken the choir to the Vienna Musikverein, the Brucknerhaus Linz, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Handel Festivals in Halle and Göttingen, as well as to Romania, France, Italy, Greece, Spain, Turkey and Switzerland. The choir has performed under outstanding conductors and with renowned orchestras. Michael Schneider has been its artistic director since the beginning of 2025.
