Reading With Music: INTIMATE LETTERS
Reading: Gregor BloébViolin: Ruslan Talas

The title says it all: our reading with music, Intimate letters, offers intensely personal insights into the great Czech composer Leoš Janáček. Following the huge success of our Callas reading in the winter of 2026, our “Reading with music” cycle will continue in the summer of 2027.
Gregor Bloéb will bring Janáček’s voice to life by reading excerpts both from his letters and from the book about the composer by Jiří Ort, while a topclass ensemble featuring the violist Mariko Hara will explore the musical world of Janáček and his personal longings. At the heart of their programme is his String Quartet No. 2, itself entitled Intime Briefe (Intimate letters), and it is complemented by two lovely works from the pen of Franz Schreker – a composer who in 2027 will finally find his place, for the first-ever time, on Erl’s opera programme.
This matinée will offer a portrait of a great composer that is as intimate as it is multifaceted, brought to life by an icon of the theatre who is himself from the Tyrol.
