The first summer program of Tiroler Festspiele Erl under the artistic direction of Bernd Loebe was selected with great care, the audience can look forward to a multi-layered offering with first-class artists and musicians.
After the completion of the Passion Play, the Passion Play House can now be used again: With Wagner's "Lohengrin" under the direction of the highly praised Swiss conductor Titus Engel, it will be used three times. For the first time, a Humperdinck opera will be performed, "Die Königskinder" was selected for this debut. And in the Festspielhaus, which is predestined for bel canto, Rossini naturally cannot be missing. In the summer, the completely unjustly underrated gem "Bianca e Falliero" is on the program.
With the Camerata Salzburg, the 250th birthday of Beethoven will be celebrated, alongside works by Schubert, all five piano concertos with the magnificent pianist Paul Lewis are on the program, the orchestra of Tiroler Festspiele Erl can be heard with symphonies No. 4 and 5, and chamber musically the composer is honored by Mariko Hara and the Jupiter Quartet Japan.
The festival opens with Brahms and Skrjabin, the closing concert presents Mendelssohn Bartholdy and Mahler's "Song of the Earth."
The classical works are framed by young, dynamic artists of numerous sound colors. Helmut Deutsch shows the great potential of this genre with an impressive song evening, there is jazz with Christian Muthspiel and the eighteen-member Orjazztra Vienna, Edith Wiens International Meistersinger Academy makes one listen with great vocal talents, Franui is a matter of course, and with 'The White Horse Inn à trois' it then also gets really funny. Following the festival from August 13 to 15, 2020, the International Guitar Festival 'La Guitarra' takes place in Erl for the 2nd time.
