A special highlight awaits the audience as early as May 8. As part of his last European tour, the incomparable Australian pianist DAVID HELFGOTT can be experienced for the first time at the Festspielhaus on Mother's Day. At his side as special guest guitarist and festival director of La Guitarra Erl Julia Malischnig.
The opening evening of La Guitarra Erl on August 11 is designed to be captivating and atmospheric with strong rhythms and fascinating melodies. SONA JOBARTEH is considered the first significant kora virtuoso in Africa. Playing the kora, an imposing West African harp instrument with 21 strings, was previously reserved for men of a griot family. The charismatic multi-instrumentalist, singer and composer, herself from one of the most important of these families, has broken this rule. She effortlessly succeeds in bridging ancient griot traditions with modern Afropop elements.
The highest level and stylistic diversity with music that makes hearts beat faster is promised on August 12. With JULIA MALISCHNIG, MANUEL RANDI, YULIYA LONSKAYA and LULO REINHARDT, four internationally respected guitar virtuosos meet who could not be more different. One can look forward to a musical fireworks display of the highest class.
Youth promotion is also integrated into the festival program again in 2022. August 13 is dedicated to LA GUITARRA NEXT GENERATION and offers students and teachers the opportunity to participate in the "Young Master Class" course with the Tyrolean guitar pedagogue STEFAN HACKL. In the impulse concert LA GUITARRA NEXT GENERATION IN CONCERT, young talents from the Tyrolean State Music School System and the Talent Promotion of the Tyrolean State Conservatory present themselves at 6:30 p.m. in the foyer of the Festspielhaus.
Following this, the audience can expect a double concert with extraordinarily charismatic artistic personalities. Unmistakable is the radiance of the Sevdah singer BOŽO VREĆO from Bosnia-Herzegovina, who touches with traditional Sevdah folk music together with the world-famous Bosnian lutenist EDIN KARAMAZOV. With his unusual voice and his visual male and female identity, he fascinates audiences around the world.
In the second part of the evening, the legendary duo TUCK & PATTI is a guest. For more than 40 years, the legendary duo has been delighting fans around the world with their passionate music. Their high-caliber original compositions and cross-genre classics between pop, jazz, soul, reggae, rock and folk, performed intensively and with nuance, go under the skin.
The matinee on Sunday, August 14 offers a concluding highlight with the Austrian crossover duo BARTOLOMEYBITTMANN. Matthias Bartolomey (cello) and Klemens Bittmann (violin & mandola) go their own way. Rooted in the classical music tradition, they set out in search of new sounds, experimental and with unbridled playfulness.
Broad-based. Dynamic. Cosmopolitan. La Guitarra Erl inspires and connects.
