Particularly noteworthy is the extraordinary response to the last two operas of the Wagnerian Ring, "Siegfried" and "Götterdämmerung", which were praised equally by media and audience with the highest praise. Thanks to the knowledgeable direction of Kammersängerin Brigitte Fassbaender, in congenial collaboration with the chief conductor of the Tiroler Festspiele Erl, Erik Nielsen, as well as the festival orchestra, two exciting and yet libretto-faithful opera performances have convinced the press and audience here. The magnificent singer ensemble – soloists and choir - contributed significantly to the success of the performances. Thus an excellent starting position was created for the two Ring cycles in summer 2024, for which tickets are already available.
For a sold-out hall, the Musicbanda Franui with the all-rounder Nikolaus Habjan, the Camerata Salzburg, the Vienna Boys' Choir and of course the opening concert, which with works by Verdi, Glière, Wagner, Elgar and Bruckner provided an overview of all favorite composers of the Tiroler Festspiele Erl, were responsible. The chamber music program, including the aria evening with the International Mastersinger Academy from Neumarkt or the fabulous song singer Konstantin Krimmel, also convinced and delighted the audience.
While artists, choir, orchestra, conductors now make their way home, the staff of the Tiroler Festspiele Erl are already busy again with the preparation of the Thanksgiving Days from October 6 to 8, 2023. Here one can particularly look forward to the solo concert of the 21-year-old pianist Lukas Sternath on October 6, who is winning one award after another and will undoubtedly also shine in Erl on October 6 with works by Schubert, Brahms and Prokofiev. On the following evening, Elias Grandy conducts the Orchestra of the Tiroler Festspiele Erl with Beethoven's 4th Symphony as well as the Violin Concerto in D major op. 61 with soloist Sophia Jaffé. October 8 belongs to chief conductor Erik Nielsen, on the program are Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven. You can find the detailed program of the Thanksgiving Days at www.tiroler-festspiele.at/spielplan.
