Those Were the Piano Days 2024
The Piano Days 2024 are over and have once again delighted the visitors. From March 21-24, two piano solo evenings, an orchestra concert and the benefit matinee in favor of CONCORDIA gave the still young spring the appropriate framework.

The beginning was made by the solo evening of the Russian pianist Anna Geniushene, who presented a diverse program of piano pieces by such different composers as Muzio Clementi, Frédéric Chopin, Mieczysław Weinberg, Robert Schumann, Peter I. Tchaikovsky, Alban Berg and Johannes Brahms.

The overture to the dramatic poem "Manfred" by Robert Schumann opened the following evening. Under the direction of Johannes Debus, the Orchestra of the Tiroler Festspiele Erl then played, together with Lukas Geniušas on piano, Frédéric Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 1 in E minor. The fitting conclusion was Robert Schumann's "Spring Symphony".

Saturday then belonged entirely to the piano again. The Lithuanian-Russian pianist Lukas Geniušas began the evening with Sergei Rachmaninoff's Sonata No. 1 in D minor, followed by George Enescu's Nocturne in D-flat major and two pieces from Maurice Ravel's "Miroirs".

The benefit matinee in favor of CONCORDIA began on Palm Sunday quite traditionally with the blessing of the palm branches. The sounds of Richard Wagner's "Siegfried Idyll", played by the Orchestra of the Tiroler Festspiele Erl under the direction of Moritz Gnann, filled the Festspielhaus, followed by Franz Schubert's Symphony No. 5 in B-flat major and Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphony No. 6 in F major "Pastoral". The generosity of the visitors after the almost sold-out event was overwhelming. Collections were made for CONCORDIA social projects, which benefit children in Moldova, Romania and other countries. As a thank you for the support, the blessed palm branches were distributed afterwards.
