Barbara Hannigan is an internationally renowned soprano, conductor and music educator. She has premiered numerous works and worked closely with composers such as György Ligeti, Hans Abrahamsen and Gerald Barry. Her performance of Alban Berg's "Lulu Suite" and her role as Lulu in the opera of the same name are considered milestones in her career.
Poulenc's "Voix humaine" has now become a core part of her repertoire. When she made her debut in the role of the "Femme" at the Opéra Garnier in Paris almost ten years ago, the reviews were ecstatic. Hannigan is taking over the role of the "Femme" from Vera Lotte Boecker, who had to cancel her participation for family reasons.
