Work Introduction: Duke Bluebeard's Castle & La Voix Humaine | Friday, 18 July 2025 | 18:15 CET
On Friday, 18 July 2025, the house invites you to an exciting work introduction in the Small Hall: From 18:15, we will explore two extraordinary 20th-century operas: Bartók's Duke Bluebeard's Castle and Poulenc's La Voix Humaine. The introduction lasts approximately 30 minutes, admission is free.

What are these two works about, which explore the human psyche in such different ways? Why is Bartók's dark chamber play considered one of the most fascinating scores of the 20th century – and what makes La Voix Humaine, this intense monodrama, so unique and moving? What musical peculiarities are hidden in the scores, and what is worth paying special attention to as a listener?

These and many other questions are at the centre of the introduction by Daniele Godor, who introduces the background, motives and sound worlds of both works. At the piano, Maestro Emanuele Lippi accompanies with selected passages, giving an insight into the musical material and illustrating key scenes.

The introduction offers an ideal opportunity to familiarise yourself with both pieces before the performance – conveyed in an informative and lively manner.
