For health reasons, James Platt had to withdraw from his participation as Titurel in Parsifal. We are delighted that Falk Struckmann will be able to take over the role of Titurel in the performances on April 2 and 5 at short notice.

Falk Struckmann is considered one of the leading bass-baritones of our time. His impressive vocal volume and the expressive depth of his interpretations make him a sought-after artist on the international stage. In recent years, he has successfully expanded his repertoire to include important bass roles, which demonstrate his artistic spectrum even more clearly. Most recently, he appeared as Doktor in Wozzeck with the Yomiuri Orchestra under Sebastian Weigle and with the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra in Hamburg - a performance that set new standards both vocally and dramatically.

Last season, he also presented himself as Daland in The Flying Dutchman at the Berlin State Opera and as Hagen in Twilight of the gods at the Vienna State Opera. His particular merits lie in the interpretation of central Wagner roles, including the Dutchman, King Henry (Lohengrin), König Marke (Tristan and Isolde) and numerous roles in the Ring of the Nibelung.

In addition to Wagner, Falk Struckmann is also convincing in other important operatic works: Jochanaan (Salome), Orest (Electra), Barak (The woman without a shadow), Scarpia (Tosca) and Iago (Otello) are among his outstanding roles. This versatility shows how effortlessly he moves between dramatic bass and bass-baritone without losing his characteristic expressiveness.

Struckmann is an internationally sought-after guest at the most important opera houses, including the Metropolitan Opera in New York, La Scala in Milan, the Royal Opera House, the Vienna State Opera and the Bayreuth Festival, working together with renowned world-class conductors. Falk Struckmann is a Berlin and Austrian Kammersänger and is one of the most distinguished voices of his generation.
