A Very Successful Open House: 3,000 Visitors
A concert for Tyrol featuring Jonas Kaufmann drew 1,400 attendees of all ages

The Tiroler Festspiele Erl hosted an open house – and in total 3,000 visitors accepted the invitation despite the summery temperatures. On June 20, 2026, there was something for people of all ages at the Festspielhaus and the Passionsspielhaus, and so curious children, adults, seniors, and entire families flocked to Erl. From guided tours of the performance venues, the workshops, and the costume workshop to workshops for children and a rehearsal visit at the The Flying Dutchman all the way to With workshop concerts and a souvenir-making workshop led by the artistic director, there was plenty of variety and plenty of interesting things to do.

The highlight of the day: the Concert for Tyrol at the Passionsspielhaus, which 1,400 People didn't want to miss. The youngest among them were able to experience up close how an orchestra makes music together: Artistic Director Jonas Kaufmann As the host and narrator, he invited all the children onto the stage. And so the festival orchestra, under the baton of its principal conductor Asher Fisch, performed Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf surrounded by the youngest festival audience.

Jonas Kaufmann: “We’re so happy that so many children and adults came and were able to enjoy a wonderful day together with our team. Our young audience is especially close to our hearts, and perhaps today we were able to open a door or two for them. We warmly invite you to take the next steps through this door: We offer a wide range of activities for the youngest visitors throughout the year as part of our program series Young Festival Hall."
