The "Academy of Friends of the Tyrol Festival Erl" - an initiative to promote top young artists

From the very beginning, the promotion of young and aspiring talents has been an important goal for the Friends of the Tyrolean Festival Erl.
Together with the Festival team and in cooperation with the State of Tyrol, the Academy was successfully implemented for the first time in spring 2022, made possible by the financial support of the Friends.

After the successful " Brass Academy" in 2022 and the "String Academy" in 2023, the focus in the third "Academy of the Friends of the Tyrolean Festival Erl" in the spring of 2024 will now once again be shifted to wind instruments. However, in 2024 there will not only be three solo categories (flute, clarinet and bassoon) but also a chamber music category (brass quintet).

Under the guidance of a group of world-renowned orchestral musicians, students will not only be able to improve their instrumental skills, but also fine-tune key orchestral excerpts. On the last day of the workshop there will be an audition in front of a jury of experts. The winners of this orchestral audition will perform in a prize-winners' concert at the Summer Festival and receive a cash prize.

Conditions of participation / Fees

Application and participation are free of charge. The costs for board and lodging in the immediate vicinity of the Festspielhaus will be covered by the Association of Friends of the Tyrolean Festival Erl.

However, travel expenses, visa fees and other costs are to be borne by the participants themselves.

Program and schedule

All selected participants will be sent a compulsory piece and eight typical orchestral pieces approximately six weeks before the start. During the first three days of the academy, the focus will be on both individual and group lessons, during which the young musicians will work intensively on the pieces in a relaxed atmosphere.

There is also the possibility to work on the pieces in individual correpetition with our pianist Emanuele.In order to strengthen the own perception and the performance at auditions, we will additionally organize a workshop for mental training.On the last day of the academy there will be an audition, where the participants can present their work of the last days.
